Let's get started

PICKING THE RIGHT TAPE LIGHT

Every space has a purpose—and so should your light. Trulux® tape light comes in a range of brightness levels and styles to match how the space will be used.

Accent Lighting Card

Accent Lighting

Direct light at features you want to highlight. For subtle accenting, use 100–299 Lm per foot.

Popular choices:

Task Lighting

Illuminate work areas fully to reduce eye strain. Aim for 300–499 Lm per foot.

Popular options include:

Ambient Lighting

Fill the space with general light and minimize glare. Use 450 Lm per foot or more, based on room size.

Popular options include:

No matter the scale of your project, Trulux® has a control solution to match

CHOOSING YOUR CONTROLLERS

Simple dimming or full smart control—Trulux® plays well with both.

Why it matters:
✔️   Choosing the right control interface ensures ease of use for the end-user
✔️   Traditional dimming offers reliability and simplicity—great for retrofits
✔️   Leverage the Trulux system to ensure a compatible, reliable system.

Traditional Dimmers
Easy to spec, install, and maintain. Consider installing a traditional 120V dimmer
when the end-user is only needing to toggle power or dim the lights in a room.

Smart Controls
Bluetooth mesh + app control with optional sensors and remote access. Multiple
control interfaces, both hardware and software based, as well as sensors and
voice assistant compatibility make smart lighting popular among businesses.

Match your system’s power needs and layout for safe, reliable performance

PLANNING YOUR POWER SUPPLIES

Why it matters:
✔️   Proper derating protects drivers and extends product life
✔️   Planning voltage drop is essential for consistent brightness on longer runs
✔️   Ensures system reliability, efficiency, and code compliance

Class 2 vs. Non-Class 2

Choose power class based on code requirements and project location.

Class 2: Safer power levels, easier inspection, reduced risk.

Non-Class 2: More flexibility for high-demand or complex layouts.

New Construction vs. Remodel

Existing infrastructure drives power choices; new builds offer flexibility.

New Construction: Pre-planned placement for optimized wiring.

Remodel: Adapt to current spaces with flexible mounting options.

Dimming vs. Non-Dimming

Dimming adds control and mood; non-dimming keeps wiring simple.

Dimming: Best for dynamic environments and user control.

Non-Dimming: Fewer components, reduced cost and failure points.

Derating for Longevity

Run fixtures ~10% under max output to extend life and safety.

Choosing a power supply with headroom prevents hazards and helps ensure long-term system reliability.

Voltage Drop

Long runs or high loads drop voltage and dim output at the end.

Calculate how many runs can share a driver and position drivers to keep each run within safe limits.

Driver Placement

Good placement improves performance and simplifies service.

Use total tape length per run to determine driver count and map placements for even coverage.

Fewer callbacks start with solid connections

MAKING THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS

Why it matters:
✔️   Solid connections eliminate troubleshooting during commissioning
✔️   Clean installs reduce return visits and impress clients
✔️   A modular system makes maintenance and upgrades easier down the road

CORE ACCESSORIES:

Conkits: Connect tape to driver
Fewer varieties make for easier decisions. Conkits are used to connect a piece of
tape light to the driver or power supply driving it.

Splices: End-to-end joins
When end-to-end connections are needed, a splice is the best option.

Jumpers: Bridge gaps or navigate obstacles
Snap connecting jumpers to make connect through corners and gaps.

An install isn’t complete without the perfect finish

FINISH WITH THE RIGHT EXTRUSION

Why it matters:
✔️   Surface mounts for utility and speed
✔️   Recessed and mud-in profiles for clean, modern finishes
✔️   Lens options help soften output or shape light beams
✔️   Heat management is key to protecting tape light longevity

Surface Mount

Excellent for creating accent lighting displays, or for featuring ambient & task lighting in a bold, interesting way.

Recessed

Adaptable for task, ambient, and accent lighting; recessed profiles are flexible and come in several form factors.

45° Mount

Fits neatly into corners or under cabinets where light needs to be hidden from sightlines.
