1C — Other Necessary Components

Control Box

Required

Required for every system. Manages data output, WiFi connectivity, and animation control for all connected dot runs. Plan controller placement near power access and a strong WiFi signal.

Only required when runs exceed 330 dots. Paired with a T-con attachment to extend system capacity. For runs between 165–330 dots, a 96W Driver and end wire are used instead.

Planning Process

Follow these steps in sequence. Each builds on the previous to ensure an accurate quote, smooth install, and satisfied client.

Now that you’re familiar with our system (Step 1, above), make time to understand your client's goals for end appearance and clarify estimated cost of install based on these stated objectives.

Accurate measurements of each segment for all runs are a must for quoting and ordering of the required components accurately. This is a key step and must be completed before moving on in the process.

Based on the building’s design, equipment ground access, and client’s desired lighting design, identify any areas of concern.

  • Ground, roof, and interior site access need to be accounted for based on installer safety requirements related to seasonal conditions and positioning of install equipment around obstacles.

  • Not all buildings are constructed alike — based on customer’s desired install locations, additional planning may be required to mitigate specific façade or structural obstacles. Inspect these areas in advance and document as much information as possible.

  • Have a plan and communicate with the client regarding how you propose to solve obstacles prior to installation. List any additional tools or materials required.

Good planning is key to a successful install.

  • Plan out controller installation location based on power availability, user access, environmental conditions, and proximity to WiFi signal. Measure signal at proposed location to ensure good connectivity.

  • Take into account the direction of the data flow and animation direction along each run so that no segments are moving opposite to adjacent runs.

  • Document the length of each run to generate dot module totals, jumper cable lengths and quantities, linear feet of mounting trim, and any power injection components required.

  • Allow for a minimum of 10% waste on mounting trim ordered to account for centered segments, corner folding, and mis-cuts.

  • Order a few additional short dot segments (1’s and 5’s) and extra jumper cables to be prepared for unplanned issues.
